Occupancy Specialist
The Housing Authority of the City of Prichard (HACP) is currently accepting applications for an Occupancy Specialist.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Schedules interviews for applicants to the Section 8 Program; advises applicants of documents needed to verify eligibility for the program. Reviews verification documents and processes applicants from the Housing Choice Voucher waiting list for voucher issuance; Makes accurate eligibility determinations, and as necessary, counsels and refers applicants to various social service agencies. Conducts re-examination interviews and processes adjustments to changes in family circumstance for program participants, verifies all information, computes family income to determine rent payment amount. Maintains and monitors program files and records in compliance with established procedures. Ensures at least 95% of recertifications are completed timely and accurately. Maintains at least 90% overall accuracy rate on assigned files. Establishes and maintains courteous, fair, objective and effective communications and interactions with owners to negotiate reasonable rents and with supervisors, applicants, participants and outside individuals to facilitate the voucher issuance process. Performs data entry to create and update participant files and transmits data and files in accordance with HUD policy and agency procedures. Prepares written correspondence to owners and in response to inquiries; prepares accurate written reports of workload activities and completed work. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate degree and three (3) years of comparable work experience; or a Bachelor's degree in public administration, urban studies, sociology, business, home, social work or related field is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification within the HCV Program is required or must be obtained from a HUD approved agency/organization within one year of employment.
ANNUAL SALARY: $32,218.00
