The Housing Authority of the City of Prichard, Alabama announces the following jobs opening in its CONVENTIONAL HOUSING DEPARTMENT:

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC ASSISTANT (TWO POSITIONS-TEMPORARY)

CLOSING DATE: UNTIL POSITIONS ARE FILLED

SALARY: $20,592 (ANNUALLY)

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Individuals in this class perform unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair task on buildings, apartments, grounds and equipment. He/She is required to demonstrate a basic knowledge of basic heating, carpentry, painting, plumbing and electricity in the performance of responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Individuals applying for this position must have at least one (1) year experience in building maintenance or construction, or an equivalent combination, possess training or experience in the following crafts: electrical, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, painting and utility services, or have equivalent experience as a general utility or maintenance mechanic in an industrial or commercial establishment. All individuals applying must have a valid Alabama driver’s license and must be insurable under the Housing Authority of the City of Prichard vehicle liability policy.

RECREATION COORDINATOR

CLOSING DATE: UNTIL POSITION IS FILLED

SALARY: $19,860(ANNUALLY)

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

An employee in this position must have a good knowledge of all major phases of recreation, such as sports, games, programming or specialized activities and methods of organizing, conducting and supervising these activities. He/She must also have the ability to interpret the recreation program effectively, both orally and in writing, to the public and subordinates and the ability to meet and deal tactfully with the public and the ability to organize and work with all age groups.   

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Graduation from a standard senior high school preferably supplemented by college level course work in recreation or closely related field and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in recreation work or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
